About the Program

The Cuban quintet CaribeNostrum was founded during the 2014 residency of the Youth Orchestra of the Americas. Violinists Jenny Peña Campo Field and Lisbet Sevila, violist Camila Berg, cellist Roberto Mario de la Masa, and clarinetist Arístides Porto are all recognized young Cuban musicians with vast musical experience ranging from classical to contemporary music. All have been members of professional orchestras such as the Camerata Romeu, the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Lyceum Mozartiano of Havana, the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica, Havana Symphony Orchestra, and the ballet and opera symphony orchestra of the Gran Teatro de la Habana. This has allowed these accomplished musicians the opportunity to share a stage with the most prestigious artists of contemporary Cuban music. Its members are not only dedicated to orchestral music, but are also recognized in their respective instruments with various national and international rewards, performing in the concert halls of France, Belgium, Austria, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Nicaragua among others.

Repertoire of CaribeNostrum focuses on recognized Latin American works arranged in classical form in a fresh and enriching way. These works combine the virtuosic elements of classical music, jazz, and American folk tunes, creating an exciting concert experience for music lovers of all genres.
