The Boston Philharmonic is committed to creating partnerships with schools in the Greater Boston Area to enhance existing music programs and to provide resources to students with limited arts or music education. Crescendo! community engagement brings passionate music making to school children throughout our community.
8 weeks each semester, Crescendo! volunteers and musicians bring music education to the 4th grade classes during the school day. This curriculum is based on creative and interactive learning experiences focused on conducting and composition.
Allston Gardner Pilot Academy:
Similar to the Eliot School, these Crescendo! classes occur 8 weeks each semester and bring music education to Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade classes during their after-school programs. This curriculum is also based on creative and interactive learning experiences focused on singing, art, conducting, and composition.
Dever McCormack Elementary School:
Crescendo! partners with Dever McCormack to bring the Band Buddies program to their 4th and 5th grade musicians. Each week, for 8 weeks a semester, Boston Philharmonic flute, clarinet, trumpet, and trombone players work with these students in small sectionals and lessons.
El Sistema Partners:
Crescendo! is also partnering with Boston El Sistema programs to bring Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra members to play and practice with, mentor, and guide their young musicians in rehearsal and performance.
Our El Sistema Partners include: Bridge Boston, Boston String Academy, Conservatory Lab Charter School, Josiah quincy, Margarita Muniz Academy, Sistema Somerville, and Revolution of Hope.
