Discovery Series, Thursdays at 7:30pm, Sanders Theatre
The ultimate in musical exploration, the Discovery Series offers the listener a guide to the music as part of the concert experience. Maestro Zander engages the audience with illuminating and entertaining commentary immediately before the performance of each piece on the program, joined by the orchestra to illustrate points with musical examples. Typically these introductions last approximately 15 minutes each, so please plan accordingly.
In the event the concert consists of just one piece of music, such as Bruckner's Eighth or Mahler's Ninth, Maestro Zander will give a longer talk beginning at 7:30pm; this talk can be up to 50 minutes in length. This introduction will be followed by a brief intermission and then performance. Please plan accordingly.

If you have ever wanted to learn more about classical music, come to Benjamin Zander's captivating pre-concert talks. The talks are an intrinsic part of the Boston Philharmonic experience. Maestro Zander pours his passion and energy into bringing music alive for the novice and the experienced music lover alike. Saturdays at 6:45pm, Jordan Hall Sundays at 1:45pm, Sanders Theatre, and Friday, April 19th at 6:45pm, Symphony Hall.
