Elisabeth Christensen joined the staff of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra in June 2012 as General Manager, with specific responsibility for the newly-launched Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. Elisabeth was the Director of the New England Conservatory Preparatory School from 2005 to 2012. From 1999 to 2005, she served as Executive Director of the Crowden Center for Music in the Community, in Berkeley, California. Also active as a teacher and freelancer, Elisabeth began teaching violin when she was 12 years old. She has performed as Principal Viola in the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra since 2008, is a member of the faculty of Project STEP, and has also taught on the faculties of the New England Conservatory Preparatory School, Powers Music School’s Music on the Hill, the UC Berkeley Young Musicians Program, and the Crowden Music Center. Elisabeth holds a Master of Music degree from New England Conservatory, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University.
