Letter from the Board of Directors

A Letter from the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra held its first meeting of 2012 on January 21, reviewing the Orchestra's strategic plan for the coming year and to discuss the recent events relating to BPO founder and conductor, Bejamin Zander and the New England Conservatory.

While acknowledging the serious nature of issues at the center of those events, we agreed that commenting on them is appropriate only for the people and organizations directly involved in the matter.

We look ahead to 2012 and beyond, with Benjamin Zander, our visionary maestro, leading the Boston Philharmonic in fulfilling our overall mission and directing our exceptional musical journey.

Our commitment to the BPO's core mission -- bringing the transformative power of music to all -- is unwavering, and continues to be demonstrated through our inspiring concerts, extensive community outreach programs and expanding audiences.

This season, our remaining concerts feature magnificent compositions by Lutoslawski and Richard Strauss in February and a celebration of Mahler and his Symphony No. 7 in April. We also look forward to the Orchestra's Gala on March 31st, when the BPO, the Louisiana Repertory Jazz Ensemble and internationally acclaimed pianist Gabriela Montero come together for a spectacular evening of music, dining and dancing.

We thank you for your continued comments and support.
