Concert Etiquette
Attendees at our concerts are sometimes attending a symphony performance for the first time. We offer these tips: --Dress is casual or dressy, as you prefer. --Be on time; if you're late, we will ask you to wait outside the hall until the first major pause in the concert. --Don't applaud until the very end of the whole piece, including all movements. Composers often write the several movements of piece in musically-related keys, or have some other relationship in mind that they want you to listen for. Applauding in between destroys that relationship. --If you enjoyed the concert, feel free to tell the conductor. He's usually in the outer hall for several minutes after the concert. --Have a good time, and please come back!
