Peter Lombard is a managing director in Piper Jaffray’s Technology, Media & Telecom Group and the senior member of the TMT M&A team. Lombard has over two decades of investment banking experience with a primary product focus on M&A across a wide variety of industries, most extensively in media, entertainment, telecommunications and business services, as well as technology and healthcare. Peter has advised companies on buyside, sellside, takeover defense, fairness opinion, joint venture and virtually all other types of M&A and strategic advisory matters for both public and private companies. Recent transactions include representing Switch & Data Facilities Company in its merger with Equinix Inc., Lions Gate Entertainment in its acquisition of TV Guide Network, and IHS Inc. in its acquisition of Janes Information Group.
Prior to joining Piper Jaffray in 2008, Peter was a managing director in the M&A group at Jefferies & Company, focusing on the media and telecommunications and healthcare industries. Previously, Peter headed Cowen & Company’s M&A group and ran its Boston investment banking office, ran the Boston investment banking office of Robertson Stephens and worked for 11 years in New York City in M&A at Merrill Lynch and Prudential Securities.
Peter is a Vice Chairman and the Treasurer of the foundation board of the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. He also is an independent board member of the SCS Hedged Opportunities Fund, LLC. He received his Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School (1983) and a bachelor of arts degree from Harvard College (1978). Peter is married with two teenage children and lives in Weston, MA.
