 Venezuelan violinist Marielisa Alvarez is a graduate of the National System of Youth Orchestras of Venezuela, known as “El Sistema”.  Marielisa is a co-founder of the Noren String Institute, where she serves on the faculty. She is also a founding member of the Camerata Latinoamericana, a newly formed string ensemble whose mission is to promote classical Latin American music, and to collaborate with music education programs for underserved children in Latin America and the United States.Marielisa has participated in festivals and master classes held in Venezuela, Argentina, United States and Finland. Her principal violin teachers include Francisco Díaz, José Francisco Del Castillo, Sophie Vilker, and Rictor Noren.She holds a Master of Music degree from the Boston Conservatory and is currently completing her Graduate Performance Diploma in the same institution, both under the tutelage of Rictor Noren.
